This Sunday was INSANE-ane-ane-ane

I tell you what, I have absolutely no problem making myself extremely busy on the weekend. Going back to work on Monday is more relaxing, I tell ya!

Yesterday we had my parents over for dinner and a visit and to watch the concert they saw in Vienna on tv(we pvr'd it for them). My mum even spotted somebody they saw at their hotel in the audience- the "Diva"! Too cool!

Here's what I did today....

I woke up at the usual 6:30am, when the coffee maker starts click click gurgle gurgle, about 10 minutes after that it beeps! Coffee ready, time to get up! I try not to wake up Norm, go let Starry out of her crate,(she's still in there at night, she seems to like it so we're going with it) go get coffee, watch tv- The Facts of Life is on in the morning on Deja vu- sweet!! (no tv news til later!)

Check email, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, flickr....

Have breakfast taquitos for breakfast- yum!-so good yet so bad-(completely ignoring the first email from the Radiant Goddess e-course starting today of eat only raw and healthy non-processed stuff- I'm starting properly tomorrow, though I watched the first video today),  a Sunday treat. Then get started on projects!

First, I am doing an altered matchbox challenge over at Craftster. (I'm Foufigirl btw if you're on there too....) Basically the challenge is to alter a regular old matchbox into a Valentine! And you can win a prize pack from the awesome paper crafter Phizzychick, prizes? I'm in! I can't share just yet, as pics are due in starting on the 24th. Me being a keener, I got mine done early- woot! Playing with paper, paint, embellishments... ahhhh can you see the smile on my face? Anyways, I'll post a pic once it's up online for all to see.

Next! We took Miss Starry to the bark park as she has had ants in her pants all week with the rain rain rain we've been having. And she's been all shivery with short hair, so getting her moving helps warm her up. We played ball and walked all around the park in the sunshine, then home.

Then! I started a painting, I always forget that when I mention stuff on Facebook, I may have forgotten to mention it here as well for those who are non-FB-addicts, unlike myself, but hey I can justify it as it's my only contact with the outside world- seriously! I'd be such a hermit recluse without it...

Anyway. I decided that I wanted to do a painting that I will be putting up on Ebay to auction to raise money for relief in Haiti, donating proceeds to the Red Cross or Oxfam Canada, not sure which yet. Just doing my own little part. So I came up with this (it doesn't look like much yet, this is just the drawing phase):

painting started

What would I do if I could, and I can't actually be there, to help? I would send wishes to them for recovery, healing, hope and love. This chicka is sending her dandelion wishes on the wind. Eventually there will be words written scattered in the wind as well. This came to me from nowhere, I was thinking of what I could paint, and it popped into my head, a girl blowing dandelion seeds. I researched what dandelions mean and they represent a lot of things like love and compassion, but I also personally think they are strong and strong-willed- just look at how they grow and spread and multiply and keep coming back no matter what. So yeah! Will post more pics and a final link to the auction once it's up.

I inked this in, then I have to let it dry overnight, so I did four more quilt blocks, this time in browns...

4 more blocks in browns

My mum donated some perfectly cut 1.75" scrap print strips to the cause so I used some of those in there and more of my own scraps. I have a loooooong way to go yet, my mission is to make a king size quilt- though somebody asked, how the heck will you actually quilt it? I have no idea. We'll deal with that when it happens. Just keep sewing just keep sewing....

And now it's dinner time so over and out for now! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
