Thrift thee well fine friends!

Eeeeeeee!

Yesterday my mum and I went for a thrifty adventure. We were pretty stoked and ready to go after a yummy lunch and on to see to Mighty Cranky Church Ladies(and they were in fine form I must say)!

We started at our usual haunt, the big MCC shop. Furniture side first and we both spotted some pretty wicked finds(more to come on those in a mo') but we decided to leave them and hit up the  housewares side first then come back for a second review of the finds we saw. We both got some great stuff! And! Everything pretty much in the store was half price! Score!

Here's some of my finds:

In preparation for my 40th birthday next year, I though this book would be a good investment. Who doesn't want to be Foxy, Forty and Fit? It's chockablok with recipes for us (soon to be) forty somethings. And, the Complete Book of Handcrafts, whoever art directed this cover was really thinkin', note the hands scattered nonchalantly, very clever, wink wink nudge nudge. $1.50/each!

Next a cute pineapple container and a single kitty salt shaker. Sad there was no mate to go with him. And the pineapple container's tag read 3 pcs, although there was no 3rd piece. I mentioned it to the cranky cashier lady who promptly said with a scowl that there could never be a 3rd piece. Ok then! Pineapple was $1, and kitty was .50¢!

Some super unique Pyrex- I am a sucker for this stuff. Loved the birdie pattern, and half price, $3 for both!

And lastly but definitely not least, this amazing treasure, which we spotted in the furniture aisle just waiting to be noticed, cue the oooh's and ahhhh's:

Tada! How could I leave this amazing piece of art! And $2? No brainer. Norm rolled his eyes when he saw it but now says we should hang it in the kitchen for all to see.  It needs a couple of repairs inside the clock, the little butterfly lost part of its wing, so we can do that pretty easily! Lady K I know you are swooning!

After thrifting we went to get some cute little cupcakes and a coffee in Hysteric Abbotsford, then to the quilt shop then home. Ahhhh! Lovely day as always!

Busy doing something something close to nothing but different from the day before

Wot it's Friday already- eesh. Mini updates are:

- I sold a bunch of magnets via Facebook- hooray! And thanks so much to Alison!

- Taking most of today off and going thrifting with my mum- can't wait!

- Work is still slow as molasses but still trickling in.

- Tomorrow is Hallowe'en and our 12th anniversary! Yes we got married on Hallowe'en!

- loads of crafts underway, not long til MakeIt so I have to get busy!

Sometimes you feel like a nut!

Good golly, it seems my true nut-attracting magnets are in full force again. I thought- hoped- that for the most part they were left behind in the city but no-oooooo! (Mike B, Bonnie, you know what I'm talking about!).

Last night, I took Starr out for a little walk around 7:30. She's been having weird potty break schedules and getting me up anywhere from 2-4am to go outside. So. Not. Cool. So, we implemented a schedule, feed her dinner earlier in the day then walk between 7-7:30pm to get her back on track. It was starting to work. So she and I go ahead and head out last night for our walk. We get about 4 houses up the street and a car comes whizzing up beside me and stops beside me, on the wrong side of the road, window open, light inside the car on, lady giving me extreme evils staring at me. I look at her like, are you going to ask me directions (I get this all the time, I'm used to it), or are you parking there or what? She says nothing so Starr and I keep going thinking she realized she was mistaken or whatever. She then drives a bit forward then pulls a U-ie and turns her car around and I hear her screaming, "F'ing bitch! F'ing bitch!" and a few other not-niceties, drives past us slowly watching us, then another U-ie, and she pulls back closer to me and Starr, coming at us from behind so I watch to make sure she's not going to try to run us over, and drives past us slowly again still staring at us. We keep going, I'm thinking should I turn around now and run home or what,(she'll see where we live and then who knows what) hoping that she realizes she has the wrong person and wrong dog combination! She goes to the end of the street and starts turning around yet again to come back at us again! She's far enough away and it's dark so I say to Starr, "Let's run!" And we run down the block back into our yard by the front door, and kookoo lady drives by again slowly- I don't think she saw us tho, thankfully! We go inside, then I watch out the window and she drives by again a few times!

In the meantime, Norm is in the shower, so he gets out and I tell him what happened- d'oh I didn't even think to get her plate number to call the police mostly as I was assuming she was normal or lost or whatever- wrong!- so we both go back out and walk up the block with Starr but the woman is gone. Finally.

So seriously, I don't get it. Obviously she had the wrong person. The street is generally dark, so how could she tell or see who she was looking for? Did she not see Starr with me in her obviously meth/drug/drunk/combo vision? I guess not. And why do these freaks always always always pick me?  Especially when it's dark, why me? You can't see me other than my light blue jacket & my dog! There was another person walking a bit of a ways up the street as well but she drove right past them.

And then? Starr got me up at 2:20am to go outside for a number 2 break. Sigh. I'm taking the day off work today to play.
