ArtChix Challenge- Art up an uplifting quote

quote challenge

I had fun with this one! The quote is by Melissa Etheridge (I put the credit on the side of the canvas). (See the little b*tch in the corner trying to tell you how to be? Heehee!)

I used a small canvas that I painted pink, then modgepodged on the girlies and quotes, tinted some areas with pink acrylic, then rubbed tea dye stain over the whole thing, sanded the edges and then stamped using partially inked stamps to make it look aged. I LOVE my polka dots stamp. I need more polka dots! Then of course as a finishing touch I added my signature faux rhinestones!

What do you think?!

I got paint on my ears and I need to dance!

Yeow! Painting weekend, fun fun! I started cutting in yesterday and finished this a.m.... Let me tell you, cutting in around carpet covered stairs? Bites. But otherwise, I enjoy the cut in stage. I'm weird, I know.

Norm is in charge of the rollering part and has one entire coat on, and is finishing the 2nd coat as we speak. We only have one roller, and he likes doing that part anyway so he's having fun.

We chose a colour called Kyoto Spring which is one of those colours that changes a lot when it's light or dark in an area. See, here's the living room, (all the furniture is moved out at the mo') one coat complete.

living room painted

It looks almost white!

Now here's the hallway, second coat going on thanks to Best Husband in the World!

hallway

It looks blue! And some areas look green. But it's not, It's a tricky colour to describe I must say- a blue-y green-y grey-y white-y type thing. It's very pretty and brightens the place up hugely. Once we have the new laminate in we''ll be glowing!

I can't do much at the moment with only one roller in the house so I'm on dog-distraction duty. Little bugger thinks that she has to be wherever I am which means she has been running up and down the stairs following me and is covered in paint, especially her ears. So I brought her down to the office to keep her out of the way until the lower parts of the walls at her level are a bit more dry...!

It's a big job!! But we're getting there.

Yesterday I was reading Tara's blog and she is doing a KAL (knit-a-long) on Ravelry called the Ishbel-along  hosted by Robyn for this wicked pattern called... Ishbel! I haven't done any KAL's before but I saw this pattern on Tara's blog and loved it so I went for it!

Here's my progress, I started last night, using another set of Addis- oh I love my new Addis!-Colinette Jitterbug in Parrot (from Robyn's Nest)

ishbel KAL

Pretty!!! so far so good, I have a few more rounds of stockinette left to do. I'm a bit nervous to start the lace repeats around the edges...! We'll see how it goes.

Today I did start reorganizing my art/craft room and I realize that I just have way too much stuff to fit in such a small room. I have been trying to not buy stuff unless I don't have any of what I think I need whatsoever on hand, but it's 50/50, I seem to like to amass huge quantities of supplies, like I'm stocking up for a world-wide craft supply shortage or something. My vow to work thru what I have on hand? It's going ok, I have for real been using some of my stockpile, so that's a start anyway.

Oh yes and I am still going on with TAW, I am stuck on this week and might give it another week to sink in. I've started the exercises but as they go along week by week they are getting more complex and taking more and more time to complete.  The Declutter Course I have been downloading the weeks booklets, etc. but haven't had time to do this week's edition so I'll be behind on that too, but that's ok. It's all coming along. Out of all of this I find I have way more energy and go-go-go lately, perhaps a combo of clearing my head and exercising(we've been doing our loooooong uphill hikes- about 6km mostly uphill and taking Starry with us too) at least 2x week if not 3. So yah! Back on the right track, I feel so much better for it all.
