My eyes are beginning to cross from staring at the computer for so long, so, instead of a regular post, you can check out my newly updated links page! Whew- how exciting eh?- well you might find something fun in there....!?
I added a whole whack of new faves and deleted a few I no longer visit or that don't get updated, stuff like that. I can add you too, just let me know where you are and I can link ya! Except spammers, they can bite me.
Carol posted a while ago about this swap over on Kind Over Matter and I had to join too. I love getting regular old snail mail, it's just so fun! Look what I got in my box today, and envelope stuffed with love, kindness and wonderful art!
The swap ATC is the pretty green Friendship one top right, and it came with these awesome goodies as well. I love the quote on the card beside the ATC, well I love them all! So much fun!!
Just what I needed on a day when my inbox was not looking so much fun- whew!
I'm taking the afternoon off- boss's orders!
A secret little project I am working on. I had this vision in my mind and me not knowing all the ways of quilting and applique other than the basics, I thought, wow! I am sheer genius coming up with this!

Turns out reverse applique has been around for like a billion years. But that's ok, as I have a little twist on it, as you can see. Rather than making the entire quilt sandwich first as it's usually done, then cutting away the bits (brown in this case) to the exposed layers underneath (pieced patterned leaf), I cut the hole first, then pressed back the hem & positioned & pinned the leaf in place underneath the top layer, then hand-stitched it in place. This way I can mess with positioning of the colours of the leaves I'm doing as I go. Loving how it's working so far! I'll show it to you again soon once I have more leaves in place.
The end result will be a fab gift for an upcoming bday girl, and also a pattern which I intend to share with you! Coming very soon! I promise!
Next, look what arrived in my mailbox today!
My Lizzy Dish fabric fat quarters, for another quilt & pattern I have ready to go once i finish up the above. (Purchased before booking Paris so they don't count!) Retro stylin' cafeteria foodie fun! Pattern is in my head already, I just need time to go get it started.
And, I finished all 81 of my blocks for the Paintbox quilt! & used a ton of my scraps in the process!
Next I need to get some sashing & backing material. I don't want to spend a lot, as I should be saving every single dime for Paris. So, the plan is to get some thrifted, (if possible, otherwise new), king size bed sheets (must be in good condition, no wear or anything else) and use those. I think it's brilliant as the back won't have a seam anywhere, and will cost a hella lot less than buying metres of more expensive brand new quilting material.
And yeah! That's about it for today, I've been at the computer for about 10 hours straight so it's time for a break!
