Tada! Bucky's quilt is done!

I finished the quilting and binding yesterday. I cheated and just bound it with wide bias tape (bad bad I know!) but it looks nice and saved me buying solid black material to make my own. I tried using the same grey/black pattern for the bias strips but it looked awful where I had to sew pieces together and the pattern didn't match. Store-bought works!
I'm very happy with how it turned out! (No extra charge for the doghair!).

And loving the black/lime/grey/gold combo. I think it would look spectacular as a full size quilt in our bedroom. But I still haven't finished my paintbox quilt of eons ago which was intended for our room. One step at a time!
After I finished the quilt, I cut out a dress and began sewing it. I pulled out my serger to get things going, a few stitches in and snap! One of the needles broke. I don't have any replacements on hand either- argh. So I went old skool back to my regular machine and it went into a strop and decided nope! I am not sewing anymore! Jammed! Nothing was working. I took it apart several times, cleaned it, oiled it, shot canned air into it to de-lint it, rethreaded, changed the needle, nothing. One stitch then clonk. Repeat times 10+ attempts. Material sucked into the feed dogs and it jammed every time. I got fed up and left it overnight and tried again this morning, rethreaded it again with a new bobbin and presto! It works again! Silly thing! It's not even like it's a digital machine where it's computery brain could be misfiring- it has no brain- it's a purely mechanical basic machine. I blame the full moon which royally messed up my week this week. I hope it's on the way out now.
So back to sewing today- hooray!
Also, I joined a swap on Craftster. I kind of gave up on swaps for a while but this one relates to the Sketchbook Project and is all about swapping paper and ephemera goodies to use in your sketchbook and your chosen theme. This I can do! I heard from my partner whose theme is Dirigibles and Submersibles- I love a challenge! We have roughly 3 weeks to get everything together and send out, so lots of time to find some goodies!
Work is still crazy busy- I am very excited about it and all the fun and cool projects we're getting!
So, back to sewing, more pics later.
What are your plans this fine weekend?
Finally I got a chance to start this thang! My theme is "In Flight" , here's my twist on it so far:

Inside cover- (must have a place where they attach an envelope where they put the "Library" card for the show and a bio about the artist.)
(this section is not quite finished yet!)
FUN!! I have really been enjoying this project-now that I have started it- and just letting loose on paper with pens and paint! More to come!
More sewing on Bucky's quilt! It came together fast!

Quilt sandwich laid out on the floor-some day I will have a large table in a large, well-lit studio so I can lay my quilts out where I don't have to crawl around on the floor to pin them!

All pinned! I've actually started the quilting part too, I'm doing just big freeform loopy lines all over it. Loving how it's turning out! More pics coming soon!
We were watching the Graham Norton show the other day- such a funny show, I think you need to watch it too! BBC Canada! Anyways, they often find funny websites and share them on the show, here's one that is really funny and cute: Upside Down dogs....
Starry is a bit too wiggly and she moved and the photo blurred a bit, but too funny nonetheless!
And last, more socks complete, they've been done for a while sitting in my UFO pile. Good place for them eh?

In the background is Critter Crunch- Norm has gotten me addicted to this game- LOL!
In other news, yesterday I went to renew my Learner's license- had to rewrite the test and passed that but failed the eye test- boo! So I have to go get an eye test at an optometrist- which I had planned to do anyways since it's been a while. The woman told me it is covered by BC Medical so yay for that, but when I went on the search for my CareCard? Can't find it. Looked everywhere, it's gone. I never lose stuff like that. Bugs me! So I had to call to get a replacement, which they said should be to me in 7-10 days. Then I had to reschedule my next driving lesson which would have been tomorrow but the licensing office took my old L License away, so now I can't drive and practice til I get the rest sorted out. Then once I have the test I have to go back to the licensing office and they'll issue my license as long as everything is a-ok eye-wise. Otherwise, my application and results go off to their H.O. so they can review it with their doctors. I hope it doesn't go that far!
Anyways, that's all the news for now.... oh yeah and I can't seem to get a decent night's sleep- I woke up at 3:45am this morning and that was it. Not impressed. I haven't slept thru the night in who knows how long.... very frustrating! Oh well! Is Mercury in retrograde or something...? LOL!
