Saturday and Sunday! Canada gold woowoo!!

Yesterday my mum and I went out and about & checked out a few crafty places in Chilliwack. First stop was Aunt Debbie's Knit & Stitch- very cool! I found this Malabrigo, which when I intended to not buy anything I had to get this. Thinking for a shawl or shrug to take to Paris, what do you think? It's very pretty shades of jade greens and dusty blues, love it!

Then we discovered a cool local shop, Suzanne's- super cute clothes! My mum and I both got a new top each, then on to VV Boutique- yuck, not a good thrifting day apparently!

Next was Fabricland where I got some pretty fabric to make a skirt- I drafted up my first pattern a couple of days ago for an a-line skirt, made a test one & it fit perfectly- yay! So I got some for real fabric to make one, also to take on our big trip! I'll show you when it's all done. I bought this book a while ago and it's awesome! i'm learning to make my own patterns to fit me!! It's got super cute things & you learn to make the patts for everything & how to fit to your own body- very cool stuff.

Next we hit up Chilliwack Wool & Craft shop (no website) and holy moly! Mecca!! They have everything and anything you need and all the cool current yarns like Mini Mochi, nomnomnom! I had picked up this Patons pattern book at Michaels and found the perfect yarn at this new to us shop, and look! I'm making the one called Carmela (on the cover).

It's green! I seem to have a green fetish going on lately. I had to get it and it was very affordable so no guilt- haha! I still haven't sewn the buttons on my other green sweater- will do soon!

Also, I've been diligently working away at my Paintbox Quilt, this morning I laid out all the strips and then started sewing them together with the sashing & outer borders. My sheet idea worked perfectly- and $3 for the material instead of a hella lot more was excellent.

All the strips laid out- good thing it was laundry day today so I used the bed as a table....!

All sewn together! Took a few hours- whew! I didn't go traditional, I think you're "supposed" to do each row all one colour but I went totally random & love how it looks!

And now? I'm off to make pizza- spicy buffalo chicken & blue cheese-mmmmm!

Friday report

Ahhh sweet Friday!

Here's some project updates...

Reverse applique- halfway done with the leaves. So. Much. Fun! & I can't wait to get to the next step!

Progress on my Olympic Ski Bunny, she needs a lot more done on her, her hat, ears, boots, and hair need figuring out as well as embellishments to her outfit, but this is her to date- she even got a pair of the coveted red mittens, although she made hers herself.

And a funky cotton 70's sheet I found while on the search for something to use for my Paintbox quilt. The local thrift store sells cheap sheets to use as drop sheets, and I found this one in the mix. It's barely used, the only "issue" is that it has been cut & re-sewn back into a sheet so there are 2 big seams running thru it, but it'll make fab quilt material. I already have a design in mind for it....

Happy Friday to you! I am feeling a bit burnt out today, it's been a hectic week! So I'm finishing a few things then off for the afternoon. I need to recharge the old creative juices before tackling anything else that needs that side of my brain!
